This is just a short post Xmas post to say VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE CYBER FRIENDS!

For the last 18 months we’ve been working hard to try to make the Isabel Learning Network – the network of 18 FM stations around Isabel Province – secure and sustainable. After what seemed like a very long time of bashing our heads against the thatched leaf hut wall we’re just taken a giant leap towards this goal in terms of finding some secure, committed funding. This means I will now have a paid local staff member to take on my work when I leave. VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE AGAIN! *

With only two more months to go of my assignment this is the most exciting news since my Japanese volunteer friend found some forgotten only-partially-mouldy cheese in the back of her fridge!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy listening to you all. I hope you made some nice, realistic, achievable New Year’s resolutions. Mine is to be better at everything.

*Incidentally if you ever come to Isabel and you see kids doing the Top Gun windmill high five and you wonder ‘where did they learn that?’ look no further. This is perhaps my greatest legacy.
